Health-focused employee engagement, customized sustainability platform, internal communications

Brief Description
WellPoint seeks to be a truly transformative industry leader by re-imagining health production, wellness, workplace culture, and links between sustainability and health.

WellPoint's customer Alston & Bird (A+B), a law firm with over 1,800 employees across the United States, provides a full range of services to domestic and international clients.  The firm has consistently focused on creating a special place to work for its people through a commitment to them and the communities in which they live and work.  However, the firm needed guidance in creating a sustainability program that would help maintain and grow their commitment as an employer.  The firm sought to create a program that integrates sustainable practices throughout all firm operations, while engendering a broader awareness of and collaborative effort towards sustainability.

Our Challenge
Team with Alston & Bird to build an initiative that will unify A+B's culture of sustainability across all its business units, attract the best talent, empower healthy lifestyles, and build and sustain employee morale.

Strategic Response: SustainA+Bility

  • Visioning session to build buy-in across the senior management team
  • Internal activation workshops with A+B team members utilizing both in-person training and video-conferencing technology
  • Online tracking site measuring impact on an ongoing basis


Results:

  • 60% agree that SustainA+Bility had a positive impact on A+B
  • 70% agreed that they were more informed about A+B's sustainability efforts
  • 51% reported that they were sharing A+B's sustainability efforts with family and community

 

Alston + Bird featured the program in their 2009 award submission for Fortune's 100 Best Places to Work and was named to the list for the eleventh year in a row.
