As a San Francisco-based business we wanted to give a shout out to our very own San Francisco Giants for winning the 2012 World Series this week: Go Giants! We love the Giants and also love that they support one of our very favorite social enterprises, Juma Ventures. Juma is a social enterprise that trains at risk youth to work in pro sports stadiums as a way to prepare and save for college. We have been lucky enough to work with them in the past and you can read more about them in one of our older blog posts.
Watching the Giants win is awesome, but knowing that the Juma youth are out there in the stands experiencing it all makes me want to do cartwheels (as if I could still handle a cartwheel!)
But that’s not all. Last week AT&T announced it would be donating $300,000 to Juma through its Aspire program. AT&T is another awesome client of ours and seeing them build this relationship with Juma makes me want to do backflips! It all just fits together so perfectly; Juma youth working in AT&T Park for the World Series Champions San Francisco Giants — all while being funded by AT&T Aspire. It’s amazing!!
Control yourself people, it gets even better. I admit when it comes to baseball, I’m pretty much just a fair weather fan (NOTE: I’m speaking for myself. The rest of the office includes mostly Giants Super fans). But I’m a certified super fan of the NFL. And guess what? Juma is going to the Super Bowl! That’s right. Today they announced a new partnership with Centerplate that will allow Juma to expand to New Orleans where they’ll be working at all home games for both the Saints (NFL) and the Hornets (NBA)… and the 2013 Super Bowl! This makes me want to do Cirque Du Solei-type acrobatics… and I can’t even do a cartwheel!
Bottom line: Go Giants, Go Aspire and Go Juma!!! (…and I need to work on my yoga.)
